I’ve got another neat hobby post to share on this New Post Wednesday.

David McAfee is the Assistant Community Director at Pinnacle Park (formerly Arbor Place) in Knoxville, TN.

He began writing in 1997 and published his first novel in 2010. He has authored or co-authored over a dozen books. He has also been known to ghostwrite books. Ghostwriting occurs when an author may be suffering from writer’s block or is unable to complete a project, and asks another author to step in for them. In that case, David gets paid for his work but is not given credit on the project.

David’s book 33 A.D. is what brought his outside of work hobby to our attention. The book was published in 2013 and was later awarded as the #1 horror title purchased on Amazon’s e-reader Kindle in the United Kingdom.

At one point, the screenplay for the book was being considered for film rights, but that didn’t end up working out.

Prior to coming to work for LHP, David had been a stay-at-home dad to help raise his family and focus on his writing. When his wife was laid off last year, he needed to find a way to bring in some extra income. He took a job with a temp service that placed him at Ridgebrook, another LHP property located in Knoxville. David was hired by us to work at Pinnacle Park in March of this year.

What a great story! It’s great to find out what LHP’s employees like to do outside of work.

With gratitude & coffee,
