This week’s Pup Close & Purrsonal comes to us from Rebecca Sterling. Rebecca is a 1 Community Director in Nashville, TN.
Rebecca has 3 dogs that she lovingly named after her family’s favorite tv show – The Dukes of Hazzard.
Name: Flash Roscoe
Age: 15 years old
Breed: Black/tan mini Dachshund
Backstory: He was rescued from an abandoned pet store at Rivergate Mall, owner never returned. He has a hard time hearing. Rebecca suspects he has “doggie Alzheimer’s” due to his age.
Favorite hobby: Giving unconditional love to his mommy & protecting her from all men (besides Rebecca’s son).
Name: Boss Hog
Age: 8 years old
Breed: “Piebald” (white with brown spots) Dachshund
Backstory: He was rescued from a dog hoarder on McGavock Pike. He was the only one that wasn’t barking when she arrived. He has never barked. All he does is growl – Rebecca says you have to watch his tail to determine his mood.
Favorite hobby: Sleeping…seriously, he sleeps all the time!
Favorite toy: A tennis ball that he will fetch and not return. He will fetch, then chew it into a million pieces.
Name: Daisy Mae
Age: 6 years old
Breed: “Double Dapple” mini Dachshund (white with 4 different shades of brown spots)
Backstory: She was rescued from the side of the road, right after the May 2010 floods. She was approximately 3 days old, no teeth & her eyes weren’t even open. Her brother that was with her did not make it. She is about 80% blind. She can tell if lights are on or not, and shadows. No, this has not slow her down – she’s Rebecca’s wildest dog!
Favorite hobby: Digging & running after imaginary friends.
Favorite toy: Ice cubes. If one falls on the floor, she will push it all over until it melts, then lick up the watery trail left behind.
Speaking of beloved four-footed friends, The Scruff reminds everyone: please spay or neuter your pets.
Looking forward,
Lindsay B
