Norman Vincent Peale said “Believe in yourself. Have faith in your abilities. Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.” Each one of us can accomplish great things in life. We are given the abilities by the creator of all things. The question is what are we doing with our “God-given abilities?” Are we allowing our circumstances to stifle our desires to do for ourselves as well as help others? According to Pablo Picasso, “the meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” The world that we live, play, and worship in would be so much better if we only subscribed to Picasso’s message about gifting others with our abilities.

Jennifer Hyman, CEO and cofounder of Rent the Runway, said “I think that life is difficult. People have challenges. Family members get sick, people get older, and you don’t always get the job or the promotion that you want. You have conflicts in your life. And really, life is about your resilience and your ability to go through your life and all of the ups and downs with a positive attitude.” Keeping a positive outlook on life is imperative for success in anything that we set out to accomplish. A negative attitude only brings about more frustration and increased stress and anxiety.

However, a strong career drive accompanied by the desire to learn and achieve can be a good thing, unless it leads to workaholism, worshiping status, neglecting family, and manipulating other people. If that happens, you need to re-evaluate your motivation. But if that’s not the case and you find yourself growing with a fire inside you to accomplish something, go forward and achieve all that your abilities will afford you.

Using your ability to accomplish good things for yourself as well as others should be a goal. At that point, whether you are contributing to a meeting, adding value to a team, or formulating ideas, you will know it is more than just about you. When you develop relational skills that enable you to bond with people, family and friends, you can simultaneously pray for them and bless them. As you experience joy in your achievements, your life will be pleasing to your creator. A word of advice: Every now and then, remember to stop and thank him that you get to do something you love. So, press forward in your life using your abilities to create a better place for others to enjoy. But first believe and have faith in your abilities to achieve your goals.

Never Give Up! Never Give Up! Never Give Up!
