LHP has had a very busy summer and now it’s turning into fall!

Let’s catch up with some of our staff to find out what they’ve been up to…

Ramblewood in Clarksville, TN enjoyed a back to school bash held by an area church. They had a cook out and crafts that included face painting and animal balloons.

The 1100 Studio & Pinnacle Park teamed up to donate school supplies to a nearby school, Green Magnet Academy. Green Magnet is a “STEAM” school where science, technology, engineering, arts, and math are focused on & woven into the core curriculum. Chaplain Walter Ghosten met with Principal Dexter Murphy to deliver the school supplies, for which Principal Murphy was incredibly grateful. 35 children who reside in LHP properties attend Green Magnet Academy.

Chaplain Ghosten has also been conducting a Gratitude workshop at some area properties & receiving rave reviews. If an opportunity comes up for you to get to see this presentation, don’t miss it!

The 1100 Studio Apartments had a delicious time recognizing International Chocolate Day.

At your next party, impress the other guests with these fun facts:

  • The scientific name that chocolate comes from, Theobroma Cacao, means “food of the gods.”
  • It takes almost a full year for a cocoa tree to produce enough pods to make 10 standard size Hershey bars.
  • When the Aztec empire ruled most of Mesoamerica, chocolate was still widely consumed, and cacao seeds were a form of currency.
  • There is a little caffeine in chocolate. Most bars have about 10 milligrams in them, but darker chocolates can have as much caffeine as a can of Coca-Cola.

Tracey Stevens joined Susan Holder, Jannette Hypes, and Johnneta Fenders, Resident Service Coordinators for LHP, at the American Association of Service Coordinators Conference in Atlanta, GA.
