As you travel around to various places such as going to the grocery store, dropping children off at school, attending a sporting event or just visiting a friend, you may encounter detour signs directing you to take another route due to road construction, an accident or some obstruction.

Other road signs may instruct you to slow to a certain speed or to watch for a lane shifting or closing. Whatever the case, I am always hopeful that I will end up where I need to go and if not, that my GPS will guide me to my destination. To say the least, driving can be frustrating even though there are direction and warning signs showing us what is ahead or what to avoid.

Living a life is a journey that we must travel and like driving a car, there will always be unexpected detours and lane changes.  But we do not have built-in GPS to guide us.  Life’s trials and tribulations get in the way and require us to detour from our original route.  What we believe is our purpose in life or the direction we should take with our life, requires us to be careful and to heed directional signs.  Failure to yield to warning signs can be devastating.

In order to succeed in both your career and home life, you must be prepared for unexpected road conditions.  Just as you cannot thrive physically without a daily intake of good nutrition, you cannot thrive spiritually and emotionally without a daily intake of meditation and reflection.  We have been given everything we need to live a good life even though there will be challenges along the way. These challenges are just life “under construction.”   Just as the potter molds and reshapes his clay into a master piece, we are being reshaped as we journey through life.

Never give up! Never give up! Never give up!
