Within a person, there should be a character trait that fuels the act of kindness towards all humanity. People suffering from various conditions need our compassion to be expressed in a tangible way.

Compassion is a form of love, often aroused within us when we encounter those who are suffering or are vulnerable in the world. The Apostle Paul summarized the true meaning of compassion in his letter to the Ephesians: “Be kind to one another, forgiving each other, just as the Lord has forgiven you.”

When we express kindness to people who are suffering, our actions help alleviate their hardships. Focusing solely on one’s self and personal interests makes it easy to overlook people in need. However, when we commit our lives to valuing others who are suffering, our tenderheartedness and kindness will be expressed through our actions of compassion.

The Lord was acutely aware of the people’s needs during his time. He said to his disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few, therefore pray to the Lord to send out more laborers to those who are suffering.”

We are called to show compassion toward people around us who are in need and to take every opportunity to provide assistance. A biblical example of a person showing compassion towards an individual in need is illustrated in the story of the Good Samaritan.

The Apostle Luke writes that a man traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho was attacked by robbers who stripped and beat him. A priest and a Levite passed by without helping him. But a Samaritan stopped, cared for him, and took him to an inn where the Samaritan paid for his care.

The Good Samaritan is a profound biblical story. It is a timeless tale illustrating the essence of compassion, mercy, and love for others. In today’s world, we need more people expressing compassion toward others. The needs of others are significant.

Let’s keep in mind that compassionate people should have no boundaries. Judging others based on their ethnicity or other characteristics leaves those in need without the help they deserve. This New Year, commit to reaching out to those in need. There are many ways to do so. Consider making a financial contribution to a local nonprofit, volunteering your time to a community program, or sharing your skills to support their mission of service. So blessed and Never Give Up! Never Give Up! Never Give Up!
