A lack of faith is not a failure of logical thinking; it is a failure of imagination. Lack of faith is the inability or unwillingness to entertain thoughts of a God who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.
Faith in God’s ability to do all that he promised allows each of us to use our creativity and think outside of the box. Merriam-Webster defines imagination as the “act or power of forming a mental image of something not present to the senses or never before wholly perceived in reality.” In this sense, imagination is the ability to create or confront and deal with a problem.
Life without imagination robs us of the cognitive ability to form these mental images. On the other hand, life with imagination is like what some describe as a mental movie-making process. It enables you to possess creativity and gives you the ability to solve problems. The power to create, visualize, and combine ideas into something new is a paramount skill for a productive life.
The Bible presents imagination as a component of faith and spiritual being and as constructive thought when aligned with God’s will and used to take every thought captive to the Lord. It suggests that when imagination is closely linked to hope and the ability to envision God’s promises, great ideas will come forth like fresh water. So, why not use your imagination to rethink possibilities of dreams untapped?
It is said that imagination is the hinge of big ideals and that it is the creation of “world-visions” or ideas beyond the visible. Without imagination, buildings would look the same and a poet’s words would always line up in the same way on a page.
How would you measure your creativity in imagining a goal for yourself that currently seems impossible? The primary ingredients for success are faith and believing in yourself. Life with imagination is a call for faith in God’s ability to do what he promised for humanity. Faithfulness is not about doing things the way they’ve always been done, nor is it about preserving the status quo.
Our place of work and our social environment ought to be the most creative places on the planet. There are certainly pockets of ingenuity and imagination in our leadership in those places, but we are nowhere near our true creative potential. Perhaps this is because we have a false definition of imagination and what it can do. Be blessed and Never Give Up! Never Give Up! Never Give Up!
