There is a familiar Biblical scripture that reads: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” These teachings seem to imply that the human way of thinking must be upgraded through a daily process of renewal.
Renewing your mind means intentionally transforming your thought patterns, beliefs, and attitudes to align with truth rather than worldly, negative influences. It is a spiritual process of replacing lies with the word of God which results in an inner transformation that alters your behavior and world view, so they are aligned with the mind of the Lord.
The question that you might be thinking is: how do we renew our minds? One way is through daily scripture reading. When we read scripture, we are recruiting new nerve cells and rewiring neuronal connections. In a sense, we are downloading a new operating system that reconfigures the mind. We stop thinking human thoughts and start thinking Godly thoughts.
Apostle Paul writes about this notion of renewal to the Philippians when he says, “let this mind be in you which was also in the Lord.” The Apostle spoke to the community of believers about a spiritual shift that remains just as relevant for us today. Biblical scripture gives us instructions about renewing the mind. Paul said, “let the word of the Lord dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.”
Whether through teaching, reading, or singing, our brains are rewired in alignment with God’s word whenever we adhere to its truth. We develop the mind of the Lord, and we begin to think his thoughts. As a result, we end up doing his will instead of being led by our own.
This renewal is a clarion call to move away from being conformed by the world’s mold and replace old, dysfunctional thinking with Biblical truth, which in turn changes emotions and actions. So, immerse yourself in daily study and meditation to allow the Bible to define you’re your reality. The ultimate goal is to move from a broken way of thinking to a renewed mind that aligns with God, leading to lasting change and spiritual maturity. Be blessed and Never Give Up! Never Give Up! Never Give Up!
