I am reminded of the African American spiritual with the lyrics, “He’s got the whole world in his hands. He’s got the little bitty baby in his hands; He’s got you and me brother in his hands; He’s got the mountains, and the rivers in his hands; He’s got the whole world in His hands.” It is a song that reminds us of the awesomeness of God’s omnipresence. No matter where we are, God is there.

You see, there is no escaping the presence of God because he is everywhere. The Bible teaches that God is omnipresent which means that he is always fully present everywhere, with no place in heaven or earth outside of his reach. The writer of Proverbs states that God sees both good and evil actions everywhere, with nothing hidden from him.

This concept of God being everywhere comes in part from the Psalmist who indicates that God is intimately involved in creation, knows all actions, and provides constant, comforting presence, rather than being limited to a single location. According to John the Apostle, God is a divine spirit. His presence is not a physical, material filling of space, but rather a relational and personal presence throughout creation. Rather than being detached from humanity, God engages with the world through empathy, compassion, and direct interaction.

Most importantly, he is a relational spirit because the core of the believer’s faith describes him not as a distant, solitary force, but as an active, loving, and personal being. Think about it for a minute: there is nowhere you can go where God is not already present. In fact, he is there before you even arrive at your destination. Whatever method of transportation you use, God is riding right along with you. This is wonderful news.

In the book of Revelation, John writes of a personal invitation from God to foster a relationship. God said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” Furthermore, the writer of the book of Acts reminds us that the God who made the world and all things in it is not far from each one of us. In him, we live and move and exist. So, let us always remember that God is everywhere. Whatever you engage yourself in doing, he is there with you. Be blessed and Never Give Up! Never Give Up! Never Give Up!
