Happiness is the basic need for which human beings seek. Radiance is a quality of happiness that can be seen on a person’s face or in a person’s attitude. It is a warmth or soft glow that shines when someone smiles with joy. It beams brightly when someone expresses their thankfulness and gratitude. It is an appearance that embodies our unselfish love and care for all humanity which creates the radiance of the present moment.

What is remarkable about living in the radiance of the present moment is the amazing inner-peace that we possess when we are happy. However, too often we spend a great amount of time analyzing and planning the future rather than living in the radiance of the present moment.

It seems that much of humanity is engaged in trying to find the fountain of youth for themselves. They spend many hours prepping themselves with anti-aging creams, Botox, and plastic surgery to avoid seeing evidence of growing older and they block out the natural human process of living in the radiance of their own beauty.

What we should be doing is striving for a state of happiness and gratitude in the present moment. Happiness and gratitude are two principles that go hand in hand in living each day. Gratitude is awareness that as things come to you, they are exactly what you need whether it is people, circumstances, or challenges. But when we live in darkness, we worry about the least little thing that interrupts our radiance of happiness. Worry is the opposite of gratitude. It is the failure to understand that you have been and will continue to be, provided for each day.

Worry is an action just as gratitude is an action. Both are optional. By choosing gratitude you drive out the space and time for worry. It isn’t hard to do. Gratitude is simply noticing the good stuff in your life. What you pay attention to or notice tends to expand and grow. Each day brings a multitude of opportunities to feel gratitude and appreciation. When you neglect the action of appreciating, you limit your potential for happiness and contentment.

Worry does not prevent bad things from happening.  It only prevents you from accessing happiness in the radiance of the present moment. The present moment is the only place where happiness and gratitude of contentment can exist. Allow space and time in your life to enjoy it.
