Overflowing Blessings from God

All of us desire abundant blessings. We search for things that will satisfy our needs. It is a lifelong quest that is consistently on our minds. Of course, no one person’s life desires are the same. However, the results are often the same as blessings are overflows. One Psalmist expressed this desire by proclaiming, “God’s blessings are not just sufficient, but abundant and beyond what is needed.”

The Psalmist restated this idea by proclaiming that his cup overflows with blessings, adding, “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life.” His hope is that God’s blessings will be sufficient throughout his life.

There is an interesting story in the Bible that speaks to the miracle of a widow woman’s blessing that kept on coming. The great Prophet Elijah encounters a widow in the town of Zarephath. The widow’s culture was different as were her beliefs. She possessed only a small amount of flour and oil. Elijah instructs her to make a loaf of bread for him first, and then for herself and her son. The story recounts how the jar of flour and the jug of oil miraculously never ran out. Every time she went to the container there was enough flour and oil to sustain Elijah, the widow and her son until the end of the drought.

So, like the widow, we often seek blessings in relationships and substances that are sustainable for a lifetime. Sustainable relationships require open communication, respect, honesty, trust, and active listening. These elements foster a foundation of understanding, support, and mutual growth, making it easier to navigate challenges and strengthen bonds over time.

In any relationship, whether with colleagues, neighbors, or family members, establishing trust and mutual respect is vital. This involves authenticity, active listening, openness, and most importantly, quality time spent with each other.

But without God’s direction, life can throw us curveballs. Sometimes, even the most cherished relationships can feel strained. It can be like navigating waves on a stormy sea. One minute you are basking in the sunshine, and the next thing you are battling rough waves. Imagine having a sturdy compass by your side, guiding you back to calm waters. God can provide that compass in our lives.

He provides us with hope that endures life’s challenges. It is said, “Hope lies in the very fact that as living beings we are wired for relationships. It is only possible to express our humanity through our relationships with other human beings.”  Be blessed and Never Give Up! Never Give Up! Never Give Up.
