To build on the fun of our recent retreat where teams got together to build “Little Lending Libraries,” LHP is taking a step further and hosting a company-wide little library decorating contest. Every property is invited to participate but it is not a requirement.
If your property would like to participate, but did not receive a Little Lending Library at the retreat, your manager may purchase a kit online at https://shop.littlefreelibrary.org/collections/all-products/products/mini-shed-kit-little-free-library.
The contest is a chance to take those raw structures and transform them with color, décor or anything you can imagine. Your creation can win in one of three categories:
Most Creative—The sky’s the limit on what you can imagine and design.
Most Colorful—Think red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet or all the above! Your call and your colors.
Mini-Me Masterpiece—Recreate your property in miniature, decorating your Little Lending Library to reflect the look and design of your apartment building and community.
For inspiration, take a look at Jacob Kernberger’s finishing touches to Kingsport West’s library which he painted in the same color scheme as the property.
You have between now and the end of June to create your work of “literary” art. Submit several close-up photos of your Little Lending Library to TheScruff@lhp.net no later than July 3. A winner in each category will be selected and featured on The Scruff. In addition to bragging rights, the three winning properties will be invited to celebrate their victories with a pizza party.
The Little Lending Libraries will not only beautify your property, but they will also help foster a love of reading among the residents and their families in your community. So, gather your team, unleash your creativity, and get ready to build something truly special!
