Springplace Apartment residents were treated to a wonderful cookout by the kind folks at Highland Park Baptist Church of Lenoir City. Church members provided the hot dogs, buns, chips and water and brought in a grill to cook. They also brought a golf cart and went door to door with staff to offer rides to anyone who wanted to attend but needed an assist. The “Crazy Red Head” provided live entertainment playing tunes from the 50s on her keyboard (The Scruff would love to have seen a photo of that!). Residents also enjoyed playing BINGO and a cake walk, all provided by the church, which also provided boxed meals for residents unable to attend.
Good food and fellowship were plentiful at other LHP community events. Residents enjoyed a pizza party at Lewisburg Summit, mega breakfast at Dandridge Tower and a Community Day complete with the Good Times program at Ridgebrook. To encourage residents to come update their files, Frank Callaghan Towers in Oak Ridge sweetened the deal with ice cream treats and snacks. An industrious resident, Lisa, sought out donations from local businesses for prizes and organized a door prize drawing for those who stopped by. She secured tote bags from Y12, a certificate for dinner from Applebee’s and baked goods from a local grocer.
