Often, we are timid or apprehensive about asking for an abundance in our prayers. There’s no need to be timid. When it comes to prayer, don’t be afraid to enlarge your requests or asking capacity. When Elijah asked Elisha, “What may I do for you, before I am taken away?” Elisha replied, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” Sometimes, we limit our prayers to a small amount rather than truly asking God for a larger portion.
After Elisha requested a double portion, he received blessings that exceeded his expectations. When you pray, God doesn’t ask you to make your requests reasonable and practical. He wants you to ask largely and abundantly, not sparingly. Allow me to encourage remove the limits you place on God, because he has an endless capacity to increase your desires beyond any human measurement. The Bible discusses abundance in various contexts to describe God’s blessings, provision, and the life that we can experience.
God’s power and ability to do exceed abundantly above all that we ask, or think is the foundational basis for humanity to make requests beyond the norm. This emphasizes that God’s capacity to bless us far surpasses our expectations. The Bible teaches that even in hardship, we can experience an abundance of joy and generosity.
However, the Bible’s perspective on abundance as a blessing from God is extended beyond material wealth to include spiritual, emotional, and relational well-being. God says that he will abundantly bless us or provide in plentifulness all of the good things in life. Another way to understand God’s gifts of plenty is wealth, which is the abundance of material possessions or resources, abundant supply manifested materially, and it is available to all of us no matter our situation.
So, as we celebrate this 4th of July, remember the great Biblical leader Abraham’s life. You will discover the life of a man who could not escape divine increases from God. You will also see a man who was generous and open handed when it came to giving to others, and when it came to giving back to God. Remember that abundance can mean a very large quantity of something. But know that it also means plentifulness of the good things in life. Stay safe and be blessed; Never Give Up! Never Give Up! Never Give Up!
