Leadership expert and Christian author Phil Cooke says, “The Lord can’t relieve the pressure while you are in the wrong place, at the wrong time, doing the wrong thing, with the wrong people.” If you are striving for greatness in life but neglecting your family, your priorities are out of order, and you limit how God can bless your efforts. When you walk in God’s will, know that you can work hard, but travel light. He will carry your burdens and lift the weight.
All of us need to simplify our lives. Doing so means committing to fewer activities, minimizing organizational affiliation, and scheduling deliberate downtime. Investing more time in your family is the true will of the Lord. God wants you to have and enjoy the necessities in life, but he doesn’t want you to invest all your time and energy in things that hold no real spiritual value.
Every day, we are bombarded with activities to accomplish. Messages from email, texts, tweets, and blogs constantly demand our attention. In fact, many people fall ill due to information overload. Scholars have described navigating today’s endless technology like trying to find your way through a blizzard.
Carrying too heavy a burden and trying to do too many things at the same time means you are bearing an overwhelming weight of responsibility, emotional stress, and expectations that may exceed your capacity to cope. Studies show that a high level of stress can manifest physically as chronic fatigue, muscle tension, and sleep issues or mentally as anxiety and burnout.
The burdens that go with success present more opportunities for the enemy to run you into the ground. That is no way to live, and it certainly isn’t God’s will for you. Don’t wait until you hit rock bottom, damage your health or lose your family. Don’t wait until you are too old, too tired, or too locked into a demanding lifestyle before you figure out that God has the ultimate answer to your burdens. God encourages us to turn our worries over to him. He said, “If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest.”
When you find that you are carrying a heavy load that is too much to bear, turn to God for guidance. You were never meant to carry heavy burdens alone. Instead, God invites you to cast your anxieties on him and promises to sustain you. While personal struggles are part of life, God offers to replace overwhelming load with a lighter, more manageable path. Be Blessed and Never Give Up! Never Give Up! Never Give Up!
