Some people have incredible potential in their life, but they can throw it all away by doing foolish things or taking unnecessary chances. Hopefully, you are not one of these individuals. Why? For one very important reason, it can lead to your destruction. Most people want to get the most out of their life and they try doing things that contribute to longevity. Moving into your middle age can become a time of sedentary mental behavior. Don’t fall into sitting around doing absolutely nothing mentally or other.
A driver of an automobile put a bumper sticker on his car that read: “I’m pushing fifty, and that’s enough exercise for me.” And another person jokingly said the only reason for jogging was to look better at her funeral. The point that I am trying to make is this: taking care of your body is important.
A recent medical study found if you spend 45 minutes a day doing household chores such as mowing the lawn, you will enjoy greater longevity than those who are inactive. If you fail to maintain your body, which according to the Bible is the temple of God, you have no right to blame him when things go wrong. If we fail to maintain our car, we have no right to blame the manufacturer.
Don’t be caught learning the hard way like the biblical character Samson. Samson was incredibly strong, and he had great potential but he threw it all away because he failed to control his impulses. He was physically strong, but morally weak. He deliberately ignored God’s principles, and his life became a pathetic cycle of failures. He never learned and so he kept making the same mistakes over and over. For Samson, it was a game that he played with his God-given strength.
God gives each of us gifts that bring about value to ourselves and others. Our abilities are essential in the realm of humanity. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics bare facts to this premise. As we observe athletics competing against each other, one thing is notable all compete to win. Those who have disabilities, demonstrate that God has giving them natural abilities to compete in their classes.
Unlike Samson, let us not play with fire because sooner or later you will get burnt. Maybe you are thinking, this is an area of my life I have no control over, and it is just the way I want to do things. However, this kind of thinking can gradually cause failure, step-by-step. Don’t buy into the notion of thinking this is just the way you are. This is not the truth because there is a greater power that can provide you with all the help you need to do things the honorable way. So Never Give Up! Never Give Up! Never Give Up!
