There are times when we feel inadequate to accomplish our goals. However, the fear of inadequacy is simply a state of mind in which we believe our best is never good enough. This mindset severely hinders us from reaching our full potential.
Usually, feelings of inadequacy arise when people we consider important fail to appreciate and affirm us, or when they compare us negatively to others. Feeling inadequate is a heavy and painful emotional state. It is a deeply human experience that almost everyone goes through. It usually stems from harsh self-criticism, constant comparison, or past hurts, rather than reflecting our true worth.
To combat these feelings, reject those negative thoughts and shift your focus from the end goals to small, daily progress. Challenge your negative self-talk and measure yourself against your past self instead of others. This practice breaks overwhelming fears into manageable, incremental steps.
Even the great leader Moses felt inadequate to be the spokesman and liberator for the Israelites. Yet, he found the courage and the wisdom to lead his people out of bondage. All of us possess the ability to achieve our goals if we set aside doubts. I encourage you to reject these feelings and boldly pursue your purpose in life.
Remember that apart from God, our strength falls short. However, infused with God’s strength, we are fully equipped to accomplish any challenge in life he calls us to face. The Apostle Paul writes, “Not that we are fit of ourselves to form personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from us, but our power and ability and sufficiency are from God.”
The true narrative of successful people is not that they never felt fear, but that they chose to overcome it. Moses initially hesitated, saying, “I can’t go and talk to Pharaoh, send someone else.” Despite feeling inadequate for the task, he found the needed courage through his dependence on God to confront Pharaoh and lead the Israelites to freedom.
Our human ego likes to look good and claim credit, but in reality, God often places us in positions of reliance so that the glory belongs to him. When you feel inadequate for a task, turn to God for wisdom and guidance. Be blessed and Never Give Up! Never Give Up! Never Give Up!
