No one can legitimately claim that they achieved their goals in life entirely on their own. Each of us has had some assistance along the way. So, let’s make it a priority to recognize those who have supported us. The Apostle Paul often acknowledged those who helped him during his travels. For example, he wrote to the Philippians, “Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News.”
Expressing appreciation for what someone has done to help you cost so little in terms of time and money, but it can mean the world to somebody who has helped you achieve something.
Motivational speaker and author Barbara Glanz tells the story of a gentleman who remembered his eighth-grade literature teacher and wrote a note to thank her. She replied, “You will never know how much your letter meant. I am 83 years old and living alone. My friends are all gone. My family’s gone. I have taught school for 50 years and yours is the first thank you letter I have ever received from a student.”
The Bible reminds us that receiving help should also inspire us to help others and it provides numerous examples and guidance within the believer’s community of support. The Bible encourages us to share with those in need and to carry one another’s burdens. Giving generously and practicing hospitality are ways to honor God and express love to our neighbors.
God expects and encourages us to support each other, and this mutual assistance is vital for spiritual growth and the advancement of a society that cares about every individual, no matter their state.
Hardship and persecution will come, but believers should remain faithful, knowing this is all part of God’s knowledge and his will. Rather than reacting in panic or doubt, we can rest in peace, trusting that God is in control.
So, who do you need to express your appreciation to today? Remember that it is never too late. Call someone, send a note, or write an e-mail to someone who helped you along your journey in life and let them know you are grateful for their love and support. Be blessed and Never Give Up! Never Give Up! Never Give Up!
