Park Place had a sizzling Back-to-School Bash last Friday despite scorching 100+ degree temperatures. Water sprinkler games and popsicles kept the kids cool and excited about the event which was more than just a party.

This year, student residents received school items selected personally for them. Prior to the bash, Park Place Community Manager Staci McGrew contacted parents to find out what specific items each child would need and then went shopping to select their individual gifts. There are 26 school age children on the property, 23 received shoes and 3 received backpacks and school supplies.

Staci says it was heartwarming to see the smiles as they opened their new shoes and backpacks! Park Place is grateful to Richard and Debbie McGrew for their incredibly generous donation of brand new shoes and school supplies and to the Hot Springs community and businesses which provide additional support. The kindness of neighbors means the world to the Park Place families.

Another Arkansas property, Asbury Park, organized an amazing event to welcome the children back to school. Staff handed out backpacks filled with essential school supplies and delicious ice cream sandwiches for all the students! The parents were incredibly grateful for this generous gesture. Plus, there were so many kids going into pre-K that Asbury had to make extra bags. It was a heartwarming and exciting event.

Making bracelets at Mountain View

At Mountain View, residents and kids have been busy as bees this summer with an entire month of weekly activities which included learning to plant flowers as well as making necklaces and other crafts.

A highlight was meeting a resident who is using crafting to help him manage Parkinson’s disease. He makes bracelets, a hobby that not only keeps his hands busy but also brings joy to others. To date, he has made 85 bracelets which he gives to fellow residents and their children.

Charlie Gragg, Mountain View’s dedicated  groundskeeper, shared his green thumb with the kids.  With patience and enthusiasm, he bravely showed the kids how to prepare the soil and plant the flowers.

The month culminated in a kid-favorite cookout–hot dogs and hamburgers with all the trimmings, chips and cheetos, and cookies for dessert.
