Life has many moments to cherish and never forget. From the birth of a child to the celebration of a new marriage, there are countless occasions to mark with joy. Of course, there are smaller moments that may seem less significant, and yet they deserve to be celebrated.
I am reminded of the great late Whitney Houston’s song “One Moment in Time.” She seemed to fight back the tears while she sang the third stanza lyrics of the song:
“I want one moment in time. When I’m more than I thought I could be. When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away. And the answers are all up to me. Give me one moment in time. When I’m racing with destiny. I will feel. I will feel eternity.”
This song is often described as an anthem for believing in oneself against all odds. It depicts the drive to achieve one’s greatest potential, the desire to become the best version of oneself, and the pursuit of one’s hopes and dreams.
It is up to each of us to push past those moments of disappointments that can sometimes hinder our progress. We have the capacity to persevere without compromising our beliefs. In these uncertain times of divisiveness, conflict, and the ongoing devastation of Hurricane Helene, the song reminds me of a clarion call for us to stay together and to unite and find common ground in moments of crisis, hardship, and cultural differences.
The great Biblical prophet Isaiah wrote that God said to the people that their many years of captivity were but a “small moment” in time. The Apostle Paul similarly understood that the trials of this life, when compared to the vastness of eternity, are just a light affliction, which is “but for a moment.”
So, let us cherish our special moments no matter how dark a day may seem. Remember the joyful times and happy memories and never let them fade. Such moments may be fleeting so appreciate them fully and forever. Be blessed and Never Give Up! Never Give Up! Never Give Up!
