Congratulations to James “Jim” Jackson, Assistant Community Manager at Harriman Gardens, LHP’s latest Positive Resident Experience (PRE) leader and honoree.
As a maintenance worker turned assistant manager, Jim approaches customer relations consistently, regardless of the situation. “I treat others as I would like to be treated,” he explains. “I try to keep emotions out of it.”
Residents trust Jim and know they can rely upon him. What does he enjoy the most about the job? He says it is the feeling of helping people. He finds immense satisfaction in helping residents find secure, affordable homes.
Beyond his very likeable managerial style, Jim’s culinary talents have become legendary at Harriman Gardens. One Christmas, his sweet potato pie became so popular that he ended up making 18 pies to ensure every resident at the 136-unit property could enjoy a slice. This heartwarming gesture exemplifies Jim’s love for helping people and his passion for cooking, both of which contribute to positive resident experiences!
Recently, Jim used VTO hours to prepare a feast of home-cooked meals for workers at a Helene disaster relief site in Newport, TN. He and his wife, Cathie, who is Springplace’s leasing agent, loaded up a trailer with coolers, crockpots, and food to feed a small army. They brought 300 servings of Cathie’s famous chili, 300 servings of red beans and rice, 150 hotdogs and buns with fixings and about 30 pounds of potato salad. They also made goody bags with energy-boosting treats for workers to take back to the job site.
They fed employees and volunteers from FEMA, Homeland Security, the TN Highway Patrol, local fire and police departments and other first responders. The workers were incredibly grateful for the home-cooked meals, expressing their deep appreciation. The meal expense was almost entirely funded by Jim and Cathie. Without solicitation, a few friends contributed supplies and some cash. Moved by the terrible destruction and devastation caused by the flooding, Jim felt compelled to help communities impacted in one of the best ways he knows how. He recalls saying to his wife Cathie after viewing the news coverage, “We need to do something.” And they did.
Jim’s selfless acts of kindness and dedication to helping others are an inspiration to all and the epitome of a PRE Leader.
Providing a positive experience for every resident is our top priority! PRE Leaders receive a $100 gift card and our thanks for being stewards of our company’s excellent customer service.
