News from Henry Manor, 1100 Studio and Miller Village
Henry Manor — For Fire Prevention Week 2020, Henry Manor invited the Morristown Fire Marshall to visit and provide a presentation that included activating a firestop cannister mounted under a range hood. All of the units at Henry Manor have these, and the Fire Marshall said he was unaware of any other facility in Morristown having these devices! He also demonstrated the quick response time for a pulled emergency cord. For more on fire safety, visit NFPA.org or www.nsc.org
The Bingo prizes at Henry Manor got bigger and better! A local health care agency provided five totes filled with prizes and Henry Manor added paper towels and other items to make especially nice prices to reward the September socially distanced Bingo winners.
1100 Studio Apartments — Fall Fest at 1100 Studio Apartments may have looked a little different this year due to Covid-19 but the party went on. Everyone wore masks and practiced social distancing while they picked up a meal served without utensils (to discourage gatherings.) Big O’s BBQ catered a “to go” lunch to more than 125 residents and staff which included hot dogs, slaw, baked beans, chips, water and a very special dessert treat—caramel apples! The apples were provided by the Legacy Housing Foundation (thank you, Dean) and 1100 Studio staff added the caramel. During a year in which the fair foods we love are hard to come by, the caramel apples were a HUGE hit.
Miller Village — LHP Chaplain Walter Ghosten, who is sometimes referred to as “Wonderful Walter” at Miller Village, stopped by to visit staff there recently. They all appreciated his visit.
