On Veterans Day we honor all the men and women who have served in the military and thank them for their service to the country. We are also reminded of the importance of supporting them as they heal from the physical and emotional wounds of war.

Earlier this fall, LHP sponsored a fly fishing trip for veterans led by James “Jim” Reeves, Maintenance Supervisor, Westview Tower, and a veteran himself. Jim is a volunteer with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF,) a national non-profit organization dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of injured and disabled veterans.

With the program, veterans come together to learn the sport of fly fishing. They are provided all the necessary gear as well as the fishing trip free of charge. On the water, veterans find solace in the beauty of nature, relaxing, focusing, and connecting with each other. The experience is therapeutic, fun and certainly well-deserved.

Salute to Jim and Project Healing Waters for supporting our veterans and helping them to heal through the power of fly fishing.
