Our December Employee Spotlight is on Cecilia Whittington, a strong and motivated service coordinator with a passion for helping others and serving her community. As service coordinator for residents at three properties comprising a total of 224 apartment homes, Cecilia has a demanding day job which is anything but routine.

After hours, she is a servant leader in the community serving on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations, including Legacy Housing Foundation, Beck Cultural Exchange Center and Knoxville Symphony League. And, she is the type of person who always takes the time to send thoughtful and handwritten notes to friends and colleagues for all occasions.

“When I first interviewed Cecilia, she left a big impression on me with her follow up beautiful, handwritten letter thanking me for taking the time to interview her,” says Tammy DeRosa, Regional Property Manager, who nominated Cecilia for the Spotlight Award. “Every day I am impressed by the work she does, not only within LHP but within the community. I love her willingness to give and the way she interacts and helps those in need.”

Cecilia is service coordinator for two family properties (51-unit Evergreen Villas and 73-unit Meadowbrook in Knoxville) and one senior property (110-unit Frank Callaghan Towers in Oak Ridge.) She divides her time between the properties where she works one-on-one with residents, helping to connect them to supportive services and resources within the community. She also designs programs to meet the unique needs of the residents and apartment community.

While Tammy is Cecilia’s supervisor, she says that at times she feels like it is Cecilia leading her and teaching her about the importance of service to others and in the community. “She is a light in the world,” Tammy says. “Keep shining Cecilia, you are making a difference!”

LHP is pleased to shine the spotlight on Cecilia Whittington. We appreciate all that you do each day to make our communities healthier and happier places to live.
