This week’s Pup, Close and Purrsonal comes from Katie Pierce, Senior Corporate Accountant, who has two adorable pups, Lucy, a 9-year-old Chiweenie, and Sammy, a 3-year-old Heinz 57. Although adopted five years apart, both rescues came from the Tennessee Humane Society.
Both dogs enjoy family drives and outings, including camping. Sammy loves hiking while Lucy does not.
“Lucy was on a walk with Sammy and she got so tired she flopped down in the middle of the road,” says Katie. “She looked at me like, ‘Mom, I’m done,’ and I had to carry her home.”
Katie says the two furbabies “are like our kids.” During the day the two can be found playing together or sleeping in the upstairs office alongside Katie and her husband, T.J., who work from home. At night they all retire to the family bed.
Katie says one of the joys of being a rescue pet parent is letting them know they have a forever home. Make that two forever homes for Lucy as she knows how to go to her grandmother’s house.
“When you ask if she wants to see Granny, she runs across our field directly to my mom’s house,” says Katie.
