There are no complex expressions that are commonly recognized by all cultures in terms of exact wording, as language is culturally specific. However, there are a few simple words and concepts that are nearly universal due to human shared experiences. Praise The Lord is one such expression of all humanity.

While not a phrase, certain basic human emotions—such as happiness, sadness or surprise—are expressed and recognized through the same facial movements across nearly all cultures. These universal emotional expressions will be experienced by many people throughout the holiday season no matter which culture you belong to.

Praises to the Lord can be expressed through various words and actions, including prayer, singing hymns, and focusing on God’s attributes like his power, mercy, and greatness. To express gratitude to the Lord, the Psalmist in Biblical times used specific affirmations such as “Praise God from whom all blessings flow” or “prayers that thank God for being a rock, shield, and refuge.”

The 150th Psalm encourages praises through a variety of instruments and actions, concluding with “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” Today I call on all of us to discover a reason in our life to Praise the Lord. How you chose to praise the Lord is an individual preference. You can praise him because he is omnipotent and is worthy of all praises, or you can give thanks to him with all your heart.

The holiday season can bring out the best in all of us. So, in your own way, speak affirmatively in your prayers about the graciousness of the Lord in your life. You don’t have to look past today to find a reason to praise him. The fact that you are able to be with your family, or friends is a reason to offer praise.

You can sing hymns and spiritual songs whether individually or in a group. But most of all, offer your life as a sacrifice of praise through your daily actions and decision making. Nothing can bring more joy to a person than to be able to do something positive for another person. It doesn’t have to be a tangible gift to bring joy; a simple telephone call can be sufficient for an elderly person.

So, Praise the Lord, by expressing your gratitude, and adoration for God’s character and actions through worship, prayer, and living a life of caring and expressions of gratitude. Be blessed and Never Give Up! Never Give Up! Never Give Up!
