This week’s Pup Close & Purrsonal comes to us from Robin Hicks. Robin works in Compliance for LHP Management.

Robin’s house is full of Dachshund pups that the whole family adores! Here’s the line up:

Precious Pup (aka Pookie or Boo) is a 12 year old Beagle/Dachshund mix. Robin says Precious Pup adopted them instead of the other way around, at 5 weeks old. Robin’s niece found a box at the race track that contained Precious Pup and her brother and sister. They fell in love with her immediately. Despite being deathly afraid of fireworks and thunder storms, she will still try to defend her turf with her mean “hound dog” bark. She loves all food but has to be limited on treats due to having Cushing’s disease.

Sir Tyler Bones (aka Ty or Bubba) is a 9 year old miniature Dachshund. He was rescued from a backyard breeder at 5 weeks old. He hoards stuffed animals, attempting to sleep with as many as 12 in his bed at one time. He is also obsessed with blankets and tries to lay claim to any blanket that Robin brings into the house.

Gracie Mae (aka Acie or Moo Moo) is a 9 year old miniature Dachshund from Robin’s aunt that was a breeder. Expecting to come over and pick out a puppy from the newest litter, Robin and her husband James were surprised when they fell in love with Gracie and jokingly asked to take her home. Due to unsuccessful breeding attempts and the desire to stop breeding, Robin’s aunt agreed to let them take Gracie home that very day. Robin says she is one of the happiest, most loving dogs she’s ever had. Gracie is another of Robin’s pets that loves stuffed animals. She can get her “baby” any time she’s asked since it’s rare for her to not carry it around everywhere she goes.

Hanna (aka Naner-Naner or Squirt) is a 5 year old miniature Dachshund. She is the puppy that Robin picked from her aunt’s final breeding litter, where they found Gracie Mae. She is a Momma’s girl and has to be with Robin at all times. She is also of a hoarder of all things small – hair bows, tweezers, coasters, small toys, etc. If anything small goes missing in Robin’s house, everyone knows to check Hanna’s bed first! In addition, she is the only dog Robin has ever known that loves fireworks. If she hears them, she will run out to the front yard and looks like “an excited child” while starting at them.

Speaking of beloved four-footed friends, The Scruff reminds everyone: please spay or neuter your pets.

With gratitude & coffee,
